WHY we established the HUB

System-on-Chip (SoC) technology has become a cornerstone of the 21st-century economy, playing a critical role in various sectors, including electric vehicles, AI data centers, medical technologies, mobile devices, energy grids, and streaming platforms. Historically, semiconductor production has been concentrated in a limited number of companies and regions around the world. However, the surge in global demand for semiconductors has highlighted the need for increased investment and innovation in this field. In response to this growing need, Keba Ai Pty Ltd has launched an innovative semiconductor chip technology “Hub” in collaboration with international partners and friends. The Keba SoCs Hub is designed to help us remain competitive and distinctive in an industry where general-purpose computing is approaching its limits. With the increasing demand for specialized expertise in SoC design, the Keba SoCs Hub is poised to address these challenges and meet the evolving needs of the global market.

What is Keba SoCs Hub?

The Keba SoCs Hub is a fabless center founded by experts with world-class capabilities in designing, developing, and selling high-speed, automotive, mobile, AI systems, IoT, image sensors, and consumer semiconductor technologies. Driven by the vision that “The human mind and innovative technology are the two biggest forces for good in the world,” the Keba System-on-Chip (SoCs) Hub is a collaborative effort between investors, startups, and global stakeholders to design new SoCs for electric vehicles (EVs), electronics, 5G and 6G networks, AI, imaging, and security applications. The Keba SoCs Hub brings together stakeholders from both local and international communities, fostering innovation and collaboration. As the company grows, it aims to specialize in optical semiconductors, ChipLEDs, AI chips, and custom-designed chips for specific purposes, positioning itself to secure a leading market share in the global semiconductor industry.

Who Is Involved in the Keba SoCs Hub?

The Keba SoCs Hub is built on a foundation of cooperation between investors, major chip consumers, small and medium-sized companies, and research organizations. It brings together key players, including researchers, students, and companies, to establish Africa’s first ecosystem for SoC design and production. The Keba SoCs Hub will play a pivotal role in developing the chip supply chain across Africa, with a particular focus on advancing the conventional semiconductor industry in South Africa and the continent as a whole. This initiative is a significant step toward differentiating ourselves in the market through customized SoCs.

For new businesses interested in collaborating with the Keba SoCs Hub, the Hub will serve as a valuable knowledge and expertise base. Additionally, foreign companies from Africa, under specific terms and conditions, can utilize the Hub to launch offices and operations in South Africa.

The Keba SoCs Hub is an ecosystem initiative coordinated by Keba Ai Pty Ltd, aimed at reinforcing the domains of System-on-Chip design and microelectronics in South Africa. The goals include researching and developing the most in-demand chips in the semiconductor industry, disseminating knowledge of SoC design and development, building and expanding expertise, and attracting more professionals and startups into the SoC sector. This initiative is a precursor to establishing Africa’s first foundry by 2028.
